Parvesh Verma's Rise to Victory in Delhi Elections
The 2025 New Delhi Assembly elections marked a turning point in the capital's political landscape, with Parvesh Verma from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) toppling former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Verma's win by a margin of 3,186 votes, securing 25,057 against Kejriwal's 22,057, underscores not only a personal triumph but also signals a strategic victory for the BJP in a region historically challenging for the party.
Coming from a storied political family, Parvesh Verma is the son of the late Sahib Singh Verma, who once served as Delhi's Chief Minister, and the nephew of Azad Singh, ex-Mayor of North Delhi. His entry into politics was seemingly destined, yet he carved his path with a strong emphasis on cleaner urban governance and rejuvenating city issues such as pollution and the Yamuna River's cleanup.

Verma's educational credentials play a key role in his political acumen. Formative years at Delhi Public School, R.K. Politically, Verma's journey began in 2013 with his election win in the Mehrauli constituency. Serving two consecutive terms as a Member of Parliament from West Delhi in 2014 and 2019, he not only continued his family's political legacy but expanded it significantly. Known for his record-breaking vote margins, his tenure included key roles on various parliamentary committees like Urban Development and Finance, demonstrating his commitment to addressing Delhi's urban challenges.
His family, particularly his wife Swati Singh and daughters, played an integral part in his campaign.
